A white Affogato is the same as a regular Affogato, just with milk added.[citation needed]
Espresso is brewed by using an espresso machine to force a small amount of nearly boiling water and steam – about 86 to 95 °C (187 to 203 °F) – under pressure through finely ground and compacted coffee.[21][22] The espresso machine was patented in 1901 from an earlier 1884 machine,[23][24] and developed in Italy; with the invention of the Gaggia machine, espresso spread in popularity to the UK in the 1950s where it was more often drunk with milk as cappuccino due to the influence of the British milk bars,[25][26][27] then America in the 1980s where again it was mainly drunk with milk,[28] and then via coffeehouse chains it spread worldwide.[3] Espresso is generally denser than coffee brewed by other methods, having a higher concentration of suspended and dissolved solids; it generally has a creamy foam on top termed "crema".[29] Espresso is the base for a number of other coffee drinks, such as latte, cappuccino, macchiato, mocha, and Americano.[30]

I started drinking my coffee black on January 1 this year. My goal was to cut dairy from my diet. I had always liked a particular restaurant coffee so I started buying it at the store and adjusting it to suit my taste. Turns out I like very weak, black coffee, so I make my coffee with few grounds (for now). Maybe on time I will start adding more grounds into the mix, but for now I am enjoying my favorite coffee, black.
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics spokesperson, Joy Dubost, claims that based on the amount of coffee consumed by Americans, it is one of the greatest sources of antioxidants their diet. In addition to antioxidants, coffee contains the essential nutrients chromium, potassium, niacin, vitamin E and magnesium. Coffee consumption alone can supply up to 8 percent of your chromium needs. Chromium plays a role in controlling your blood sugar and possibly lowering your LDL, or bad cholesterol. Much like tea, coffee contains plant chemical compounds, particularly flavonoids, which have been linked to a reduced risk of chronic disease.

Cortado: means "cut" in Spanish so the double shot espresso served in a demetesse glass supported with a metal handle is "cut" with an equal part of hot milk, making it in between the size and strength of a macchiato and a cappuccino. It is popular in Spain and Portugal, as well as throughout Latin America and Cuba, where it is drunk in the afternoon. Variations include more froth on top than a traditional cortado and occasionally with different names such as Piccolo or Gibraltar. Thanks to Ryan Cerbus for the entry.
It probably took a month (possibly longer) for me to even be able to tolerate black coffee. I would make a face every single sip I took, but after time, I acquired a taste for it, and now I enjoy it. I look forward to my morning brew as I once did with all the additives. Not saying once in a blue moon I won’t add a little something, but that is usually if I brew a cup in the early evening just for the comfort, but that is few and far in between anymore.

Caffè crema (Italian: cream coffee) refers to two different coffee drinks:[39] an old name for espresso (the 1940s and 1950s), and a long espresso drink primarily served in Germany, Switzerland and Austria and northern Italy (the 1980s onwards), along the Italian/ Swiss and Italian/ Austrian border.[40] As a term, it generally means "espresso", while in technical discussions, referring to the long drink, it may more narrowly be referred to as Swiss caffè crema. Variant terms include "crema caffè" and the hyperforeignism "café crema" – "café" is French, while "caffè" and "crema" are Italian, thus "café crema" mixes French and Italian.

Change your mug color– This is a somewhat obscure suggestion, but a year or so ago a small study concluded that mug color could have an impact on how we taste our coffee. Specifically, using a white mug instead of a clear mug can make you perceive a coffee as more bitter and less sweet. If you regularly drink coffee out of a white mug, try changing it up and using a clear mug instead.
I’m a bit of a coffee aficionado myself. I used to drink my coffee black but then got pregnant with The Stinky, and I couldn’t handle it black anymore. I’m also a fellow Paleo and I LOVE coconut milk (from the can) in my coffee, with a sprinkle of cinnamon and a drop of vanilla extract. It tastes like my beloved Vanilla lattes and you eventually trick yourself into thinking you’re drinking sugar. I call it a “Summer Latte”. You should try it sometime.
Freddo Cappuccino is another variation of the original cappuccino. It is as popular as the freddo espresso. It follows the same process as the freddo espresso, but at the end foamed and creamed milk is added in ratio 1:2 (espresso shots:milk), and 1:2 ( espresso shots:ice). Recently the Coffee Island coffee shop (a coffee shop franchise in Greece), established a new foam and cream trend in freddo cappuccino. They use plant based milk creamed in the frapièra. The result is a stiffer and sweeter cream.

I have found that a lot of people who are trying to get away from coffee additives will really enjoy natural processed coffees. Try a natural processed coffee from Ethiopia and look for tasting notes like blueberry or strawberry jam. If you are finding your coffee to be pretty bitter overall, you may need to change your brewing technique a bit as well. Coffee that is overextracted will taste bitter. Send me an email if you need help finding a coffee or some brewing advice.

If you drink coffee, serving it black is your best option for weight loss. Black coffee is calorie-free — it's the cream and sugar that can pack on the pounds. A single cup of coffee with 2 teaspoons of sugar and an ounce of half-and-half has 69 calories. And because the average American drinks roughly 3 cups of coffee a day, that adds up to an extra 207 calories. If you were to switch from coffee with sugar and cream to black coffee every day for a year, you'd save more than 75,000 calories — the equivalent of almost 22 pounds of fat.
Drinking coffee without adding sugar can reduce the chances of heart disease and inflammation, thereby lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease [5] . Studies have shown that coffee consumption lowers the risk of stroke by 20 per cent [6] , [7] , [8] . However, coffee may cause a slight increase in blood pressure, which doesn't cause a problem though.
